Following the consultation on the revision of the Customs Act, opposition is mounting from a wide range of interests.

As SRF (Swiss Broadcasting Corporation) reported yesterday, labour unions as well as several cantons and political parties are critical of the planned restructuring of the Federal Customs Administration. The labour union Garanto, for example, fears a militarisation of the customs authority. The Cantonal Conference of Police and Justice Directors, on the other hand, is concerned about more difficult cooperation and parallel procedures.
