On February 28, 2022 the FOCBS and the british customs authorities HMRC (Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the cooperation of the two countries in the area of customs. The agreement is the basis for further development of the existing customs and trade relationship.
The aim of the MoU is to intensify bilateral contacts in relation to modernisation and digitisation initiatives, and to foster close collaboration in the area of customs. Due to the advanced implementation of the FOCBS’s transformation programme DaziT, the UK customs authority is interested in its experiences.
Within the framework of the legally non-binding MoU will FOCBS und HMRC also examine a deeper cooperation in various areas such as development and interoperability of single trade windows. Regular exchanges by expert delegations should foster mutual understanding and strengthen cooperation.
